Born in one of Maine’s working class mill towns, at an early age Laurie's parents recognized her passion for art and enrolled the young artist in drawing lessons, a path that would lead to the Maine College of Art and a BFA.
Focusing on Graphic Design, Laurie pursued her professional career in Maine’s business world as editorial art director at the award-winning alternative newspaper Casco Bay Weekly, marketing art director at Renaissance Greeting Cards, and starting a freelance graphic design business while raising her family.
Laurie works with a variety of media and themes, including ceramics, mosaics, photography, jewelry, painting, printmaking, repeating patterns and web design. Her current focus is turning color and texture into illustrations and repeat patterns, in a variety of media for consumer products including paper, fabric, and home goods.
Laurie lives with her husband, two children, a dog and a cat on the coast of Maine, where, sketchbook in hand she draws inspiration from the seasonal shifts of color, texture and light with an artist’s natural curiosity.
